Smoke Daddy’s Review of Haywards Pit Bar-B-Que
My favorites here were the Pork Burnt Ends, potato salad, slaw, and sauce.
- Brisket – Chewy, but moist. All the bark has been trimmed off.
- Burnt Ends – Heavy smoke. One piece is good… but not the other.
- Rib – Tough exterior. Creosote issue here.
- Sausage – Good smoke ring. This may be the same kind of sausage served at Boardroom, but it tastes better here.
- Pork – Good flavors, but a little dry.
- Pork Burnt Ends – Mmmm. Better than the beef version.
OTHER FARE:

OTHER FARE:
- Potato Salad – Mustard-based with a little creamy texture. Nice.
- Cole Slaw – Crunch with carrots and purple cabbage. Good.
- Beans – Good, with a little spice on the finish.
- Sauce – Tomato-based and bold with a nice balance of sweet & heat.
ATMOSPHERE:
- Newer building in a commercial area (1981). Original location is where Boardroom is today.
- Great pits, although Hayward was not there during our visit. A custom installation of J&R pits.
- Nice bar directly in the center of the building
- Carry-out business done through a separate door
- Dining area is very large with full table service
- Just starting to get busy as we depart
